About Sri Rajendra Prasad I.A.S
Sri Rajendra Prasad is a distinguished Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer renowned for his contributions to agricultural research and education. He served as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore (UASB), where he played a pivotal role in advancing agricultural practices and research in Karnataka.
Dr. Prasad earned his M.Sc. in Agriculture and Ph.D. in Seed Technology from UASB, both with distinction. He further enhanced his expertise with a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration and participated in leadership development programs at esteemed institutions such as the National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM) in Hyderabad and the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) in Hyderabad. Additionally, he undertook international training in seed science and technology in the Netherlands, Thailand, and the Philippines.
During his tenure as Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Prasad spearheaded initiatives to address the challenges posed by climate change on agriculture. He utilized simulation models to predict crop productivity under changing weather patterns and developed strategies for crop diversification to enhance food security in Karnataka. His leadership also focused on promoting sustainable agricultural practices, including soil and water conservation, and the development of drought-resistant crop varieties .
