About Sri Babu Shetty
Babu Shetty is a distinguished national-level athlete with an exceptional record in track and field events. Known for his expertise in long jump and 110 meters hurdles, Shetty has held a continuous 23-year record in the Dasara Sports competitions. He has earned accolades in All India Athletics, securing 5 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze medals. His notable achievements include winning 5 gold medals in national-level competitions and making history with his first gold in long jump in Malaysia in 1986.
In addition to his domestic victories, Babu Shetty has excelled internationally. He clinched gold in 110 meters hurdles at the Kathmandu National Games in 1987, and continued to break records with his consistent performance from 1987 to 1993 at the national level. His international success includes winning gold and silver in long jump and 110 meters hurdles at the 1998 Pakistan competition.
Shetty’s achievements also include a 5th rank in the Asian Track and Field Meet in 1989 and a 6th rank in the Decathlon at the Asian Games in China. At the Sri Lanka SAF Games, he earned 7 gold medals in the 110 meters hurdles. Now working with Indian Railways, Shetty continues to inspire athletes with his unmatched dedication to sports and his remarkable legacy.
