About Prof Muralidhar Upadya Hiriadka

Prof. ​Muraleedhara Upadhya Hiriadka is a distinguished scholar, writer, and cultural advocate from the coastal Karnataka region. Born on May 29, 1950, in Kollégala, Chamarajanagar district, he pursued his education at various institutions, including the Government Junior College and MGM College in Udupi, and completed his M.A. in Kannada from Mangalore University in 1972. He served as a lecturer at Poorna Prajna College in Udupi and held significant roles in literary and cultural organizations. Notably, he was a member of the Central Sahitya Akademi from 1997 to 2002 and has been actively involved with the National Book Trust and the Kannada Sahitya Parishat. His literary contributions encompass biographies of prominent figures such as P. S. Hegde, M. N. Kamath, and S. Y. Panikkar, along with critical works on Tulu literature and translations of Kannada literary works. Additionally, he has edited volumes on Govinda Pai, B. V. Karanth, and U. R.
